بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ لَآ اُقْسِمُ بِهٰذَا الْبَلَدِۙ Lā uqsimu bihāżal-baladi. Aku bersumpah demi negeri ini Makkah, وَاَنْتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهٰذَا الْبَلَدِۙ Wa anta ḥillum bihāżal-baladi. sedangkan engkau Nabi Muhammad bertempat tinggal di negeri Makkah ini. وَوَالِدٍ وَّمَا وَلَدَۙ Wa wālidiw wa mā walada. Aku juga bersumpah demi bapak dan anaknya, لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ فِيْ كَبَدٍۗ Laqad khalaqnal-insāna fī kabadin. sungguh, Kami benar-benar telah menciptakan manusia dalam keadaan susah payah. اَيَحْسَبُ اَنْ لَّنْ يَّقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ اَحَدٌ ۘ Ayaḥsabu allay yaqdira alaihi aḥadun. Apakah dia manusia itu mengira bahwa tidak ada seorang pun yang berkuasa atasnya? يَقُوْلُ اَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًاۗ Yaqūlu ahlaktu mālal lubadān. Dia mengatakan, “Aku telah menghabiskan harta yang banyak.” اَيَحْسَبُ اَنْ لَّمْ يَرَهٗٓ اَحَدٌۗ Ayaḥsabu allam yarahū aḥadun. Apakah dia mengira bahwa tidak ada seorang pun yang melihatnya? اَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَّهٗ عَيْنَيْنِۙ Alam najal lahū ainaini. Bukankah Kami telah menjadikan untuknya sepasang mata, وَلِسَانًا وَّشَفَتَيْنِۙ Wa lisānaw wa syafataini. lidah, dan sepasang bibir, وَهَدَيْنٰهُ النَّجْدَيْنِۙ Wa hadaināhun-najdaini. serta Kami juga telah menunjukkan kepadanya dua jalan kebajikan dan kejahatan? فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ ۖ Falaqtaḥamal-aqabahta. Maka, tidakkah sebaiknya dia menempuh jalan kebajikan yang mendaki dan sukar? وَمَآ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ ۗ Wa mā adrāka mal-aqabahtu. Tahukah kamu apakah jalan yang mendaki dan sukar itu? فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍۙ Fakku raqabahtin. Itulah upaya melepaskan perbudakan اَوْ اِطْعَامٌ فِيْ يَوْمٍ ذِيْ مَسْغَبَةٍۙ Au iṭāmun fī yaumin żī masgabahtin. atau memberi makan pada hari terjadi kelaparan يَّتِيْمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍۙ Yatīman żā maqrabahtin. kepada anak yatim yang memiliki hubungan kekerabatan اَوْ مِسْكِيْنًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍۗ Au miskīnan żā matrabahtin. atau orang miskin yang sangat membutuhkan. ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِۗ Ṡumma kāna minal-lażīna āmanū wa tawāṣau biṣ-ṣabri wa tawāṣau bil-marḥamahti. Kemudian, dia juga termasuk orang-orang yang beriman dan saling berpesan untuk bersabar serta saling berpesan untuk berkasih sayang. اُولٰۤىِٕكَ اَصْحٰبُ الْمَيْمَنَةِۗ Ulā'ika aṣḥābul-maimanahti. Mereka itulah golongan kanan. وَالَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا هُمْ اَصْحٰبُ الْمَشْـَٔمَةِۗ Wal-lażīna kafarū bi'āyātinā hum aṣḥābul-masy'amahti. Adapun orang-orang yang kufur pada ayat-ayat Kami, merekalah golongan kiri. عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌ ࣖ Alaihim nārum mu'ṣadahtun. Mereka berada dalam neraka yang ditutup rapat.
