The Japanese manufacturer was unsuccessful in its bid to defend its riders’ title with Fabio Quartararo in 2022, with the French rider scoring three wins and ultimately losing the championship to Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia. With Quartararo helping Yamaha to second in the manufacturers’ standings, the 2021 world champion was able to mask what was largely a difficult year for the brand. Teammate Franco Morbidelli struggled to adapt to the factory M1 and managed a best result of seventh on his way to 19th in the standings on 42 points, with all Yamaha riders across the factory squad and RNF Racing scoring a combined 89 points relative to Quartararo’s 248. Ahead of the winter shutdown, Yamaha had been testing a new engine in its bid to gain more power – though the version brought to the Valencia test last November was not met with praise by its riders. With pre-season testing resuming in Malaysia on 10-12 February, Yamaha uncovered a largely unchanged livery featuring some new grey camouflage stripes for its M1 at an event in Jakarta, Indonesia on Tuesday. Fabio Quartararo, Yamaha Factory Racing, bike detail Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Quartararo, who has spent the winter recovering from a wrist fracture he suffered in a motocross accident, said “My winter break didn’t fully go as planned because I injured my hand during motocross training. “But I’ve kept working non-stop. I’ve done a lot of cardio to make sure I’m 100% fit for the 2023 season. “My hand injury is fully recovered now too, so I feel ready to fight for the title again. We have the new camouflage livery, which is a nice change. “I like the new look, and it’s good to switch it up a bit. But more importantly, I am looking forward to start riding again. “I am very curious to test the 2023 YZR-M1 in Sepang. We will work hard this season, as we always do. We have learned a lot in 2022, and now I just want to fight for the title again.” Morbidelli added “We are making a fresh start today, with a new look. Everything has gone back to zero and anything is possible this season, so that is an exciting prospect. “We’ve ended 2022 with an improved feeling. Now it’s important that we do a good job at the upcoming winter tests, so we will be ready to start the season in March with the first race in Portugal. “There’s a new race format [with sprint races being introduced], which will take some getting used to for the riders and the teams, but I see it as a positive change because it’s something that the fans will enjoy.” Franco Morbidelli, Yamaha Factory Racing, bike detail Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Quartararo signed a new two-year deal with Yamaha last season to remain with the squad until the end of 2024, while the second year of Morbidelli’s current deal has been honoured. Yamaha will not have a satellite entry in 2023, after RNF joined forces with Aprilia when the former couldn’t agree to a multi-year deal with Razlan Razali’s outfit. Last year FIM president Jorge Viegas said Valentino Rossi’s VR46 team would become Yamaha’s satellite team in 2024 – something VR46 denied, claiming it will see out its Ducati deal.

We are just a few days away 4th February from the MotoGP Sepang tests and one of the first few teams to present their 2015 livery is the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team. After concluding a very positive second half of the 2014 MotoGP season which saw both the Yamaha MotoGP riders rise to top form, fans all around are really excited thinking about the prospects of the 2015 season for Yamaha. The 2015 MotoGP team and livery were presented at Distrito Telefónica headquarters in Madrid Spain. Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo were joined by Luis Miguel Gilpérez, president of Telefónica España, Kouichi Tsuji who is the General Manager of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltdñ€ℱs Motorsport Division, Lin Jarvis who is the Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing and Massimo Meregalli who is the Movistar Yamaha MotoGPñ€ℱs Team Director. The unveiling of new 2015 Yamaha MotoGP livery also saw the announcement of new partners and sponsors. New partners include the Abarth, Cromax and the Descente group. While the list of new sponsors run long. Yamaha are looking for a strong start to the 2015 season unlike last year, where mistakes in the beginning allowed Marc Marquez to dominate the first half of the season. Things get serious now, as the team directly head on to Malaysia where the riders for the first time this season will get to evaluate the new 2015 YZR-M1 and give feedback on the changes and new developments made during the break. The timings at this test will definitely give us an idea as how competitive the 2015 season is going to be. The Honda plus Marquez combination made the RC213V quite the machine and we just hope the M1 has some updated tricks like the clutchless downshifts also set up for this season. WelcomeYamaha Special Edition Livery MotoGP Oleh goozir Diposting pada 11/05/2015 Sobat goozir, bertempat di Parkir Timur Senayan Jakarta pada tanggal 9 Mei 2015 Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing, melaunching livery terbarunya yaitu livery MotoGP Movistar dan Tech 3 untuk produk Yamaha R25 dan Yamaha R15. Updated Thursday, January 29, 2015, 1809 [IST] Japanese two-wheeler giant and runner up of 2014 MotoGP World Championship, Yamaha has unveiled their 2015 livery. They have also revealed all sponsor and partners for their 2015 title hopes. Present at the event was the entire Yamaha MotoGP team with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Just like in 2014 Movistar continues to be the main sponsor for Yamaha factory team. The unveiling of 2015 livery was held in Madrid, Spain amidst journalists and MotoGP enthusiasts. They MotoGP riders then sat down to answer questions. Lin Jarvis, Movistar Yamaha, Principal was first to comment. He was ecstatic that Yamaha has the service of two great world champions in their paddock. They are the best riders and have proven that by finishing second and third in 2014 championship. Jorge Lorenzo when asked what are the chances of winning another MotoGP championship, he commented that it is possible. The Spaniard claimed that he has been training hard for the upcoming season and it has been the hardest he has ever trained. He believes if he starts the year strong he will finish the year strong. Valentino Rossi on the other side commented that he focused on improving bike feel and staying close with the top three. The Italian managed this very well last year by finishing second in the championship. The nine time world champion said he has set his goal higher for 2015 and is looking forward to compete with Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo. The 2015 Movistar Yamaha looks more or less similar in its typical dark blue and white livery. This year, however, the white seems to be lesser than on the 2014 MotoGP bike. Also revealed were new sponsor Abarth, Cromax and Descente for 2015.

The new M1, which will be campaigned by seven-time premier-class champion Valentino Rossi and Yamaha's most recent grand prix winner Maverick Vinales, will carry a striped black and blue colour scheme. This marks a departure from the primarily blue liveries that the works outfit ran throughout the last few seasons. The revised paint scheme is a legacy of a change in title sponsor, with Spanish telecommunications company Movistar replaced by energy drink giant Monster. “We're kicking off here in a very positive way,” Yamaha managing director Lin Jarvis said at the season launch in Jakarta, Indonesia. “I think the merging of these two brands [Yamaha and Monster] brings a new energy to the project. “We like a lot the colour of the bike, the design, it's more aggressive – and I think that's what we need to be.” Rossi added “I like very much [the new livery] – Yamaha is always blue, and the blue of the Yamaha is beautiful, but I like the black of Monster because [the combination is] the colour of my soccer team, Inter, so I feel comfortable." Monster was already backing both Vinales and Rossi before the change, and also served as the title sponsor for Yamaha's satellite team Tech 3 before the French outfit switched to the KTM camp in the off-season. “I'm excited that we've been able to step up and expand our visibility as the title sponsor of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team,” said Monster chairman and CEO Rodney Sacks. “Vale and Maverick will be piloting what we think is the best-looking bike on the grid.” The works Yamaha team will look to rebound from what was a disappointing 2018, which marked its longest-ever win drought in the category before Vinales snapped the streak at Phillip Island. The underwhelming campaign led to the departure of Yamaha's MotoGP project leader Kouji Tsuya, who has been replaced by former head of chassis division Takahiro Sumi in the off-season. Vinales and Rossi, who are both signed with the manufacturer through 2020, will make their debuts riding the new M1 in the first pre-season test at Sepang on February 6-8. “I can't wait to start, the holidays were already too long,” Vinales said. “I would like to be on the bike. “I'm really curious to see the steps forward we did, and see if we can push the bike at the maximum already in the first test.” Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 1/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 2/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 detail 3/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 detail 4/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 detail 5/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Maverick Vinales, Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 detail 6/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Valentino Rossi, Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 detail 7/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 8/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Valentino Rossi, Yamaha Factory Racing, Maverick Vinales, Yamaha Factory Racing 9/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Valentino Rossi, Yamaha Factory Racing, Maverick Vinales, Yamaha Factory Racing 10/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 11/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Yamaha Motor Racing, YZR-M1 detail 12/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Valentino Rossi, Yamaha Factory Racing 13/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Maverick Viñales, Yamaha Factory Racing 14/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP Valentino Rossi, Yamaha Factory Racing, Maverick Vinales, Yamaha Factory Racing 15/15 Photo by Yamaha MotoGP
The team held a launch event in Madrid on Wednesday morning to show off an altered colour scheme including more prominence for title sponsor Movistar. Yamaha's riders have lost the title to Honda man Marc Marquez for the past two seasons, and were left reeling when Marquez won 10 straight grands prix at the start of 2014. Kouichi Tsuji, group leader of Yamaha's MotoGP programme, said the margin between the two teams was smaller than results suggested, and that though there was limited scope for big steps, his team had made significant progress. "We had second on the podium 10 times, and eight times the difference from the winner was two seconds after a 120km [75-mile] race," he said. "The development room with the bike is very small, but we did many things to try to find those two seconds in the races because we want a champion at the end of the season." Team boss Lin Jarvis said Yamaha had the riders and technical package it required to take on Marquez and Honda this year. "You have to learn from your mistakes and to continue to develop and evolve," he said. "We have to get everything right. Everything has to be perfect from the first race. "That's a difficult call, but I think our riders are well prepared and our team are well organised. We're ready to go. "I think both Valentino and Jorge are in great shape physically and mentally. "Last year Marquez had a phenomenal year, so we know the level of competition will be super-super-strong, but we have the riders we want. "I'm totally confident they will go out there and be competitive and win many, many races." LORENZO HAS ADDRESSED FITNESS After running Marquez close for the 2013 title, Lorenzo had an awful start to the '14 campaign with a series of early mistakes quickly dropping him out of championship contention. He admitted during the year that he had not been in proper physical condition for the start of the year following winter surgery to address 2013 injuries, but is adamant he is now in much better shape. "Maybe last year I took a little too much holiday and made a few mistakes in planning pre-competition," said Lorenzo. "This year I'm not going to make this mistake and I'm going to be in better shape. "I feel very good - I'm thin, just like when I was 20. There's no way to measure one's physical capacity, but you get certain feelings and I've never trained so hard or for so many hours. "Everything was very well planned. I'm working on those weak points from last year."

Valentino Rossi shone as a special guest at the 23rd edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. After a stunning race at the TT Assen Circuit yesterday, where Valentino Rossi won his third race this season, the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider made his first ever appearance at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed, which carried a theme of nostalgia and pride in the growing interest in motorsport, as Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. took the occasion to celebrate its 60th anniversary. The nine-time World Champion was specially invited by Lord March to make his debut at this famous event as a guest star. Rossi traveled straight from the Dutch GP to the UK to be able to attend the event, where he was accompanied by Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd Executive Vice President, Takaaki Kimura, Yamaha Motor Europe President, Kazuhiro Kuwata, YMC Motorsports Division's General Manager, Kouichi Tsuji and Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director, Lin Jarvis. They had the pleasure of joining a star studded guest list including numerous famous sportsmen, celebrities and VIPs, for a gala dinner and ball on the Saturday evening at Lord Marchs grand estate, before the action started the morning after. Sunday kicked off with Rossi, Lord March, Kimura-san, Kuwata-san, Tsuji-san and Jarvis revealing the Doctors Yamaha YZR-M1, equipped with a special livery, in Yamahas display area in the F1 Paddock. The yellow and retro styled bike commemorates Yamaha Motors 60th anniversary and the ceremony was completed by motorsport legends Kenny Roberts, Giacomo Agostini and Phil Read taking part in this celebration of Yamahas supreme racing heritage. Rossis yellow bike was in good company at the Yamaha exhibition; other iconic show bikes on display were Phil Reads 1965 RD56, Giacomo Agostinis 1975 YZR500 OW23 and Kenny Robertss 1978 YZR750 OW31. The unveiling of Rossis bike was followed by the Doctor delighting thousands of spectators when he rode up and down the Hillclimb in the yellow livery at 1140 am. The special colour scheme of his YZR-M1 was similar to the one he and Colin Edwards sported ten years ago when they marked Yamahas 50th anniversary at the Raceway Laguna Seca with a double podium. After the thrilling ride, involving a 300ft rise, there was more excitement waiting. Rossi was interviewed by Goodwood TV on the balcony of Lord Marchs mansion before joining the host and Formula 1 rider Nico Rosberg for lunch. The Italian concluded his first Goodwood experience by honouring this years theme of the Goodwoord event, ’Flat-Out and Fearless Racing on the Edge. He fully enjoyed riding in a historical Le Mans-winner as well as a rally car, before heading home to prepare himself for the Grand Prix in Germany, to be held in two weeks time.
